Several of Peel’s most popular restaurants and food suppliers showcased their culinary talents at the 11th Annual Chef Challenge held at the Versailles Convention Centre in Mississauga. Expert judges Chef Pino Di Cerbo, Chef Tom Phuong-Luu, and Chef Rachel Bies and over 350 Guests sampled each chef’s creations as they competed to win the coveted Chef Challenge jacket. RD’s BBQ received the Best Professional Chef Award, The Waterside Inn received the People’s Choice Award, and Ryan Brown received the Best Home Chef Award.
“Our team of volunteers and staff worked tirelessly to make this event happen,” said Gay Longo, Chef Challenge Committee Chair and Victim Services of Peel Board Chair. “This year’s restaurants have been the most diverse in cuisine with long-time restaurants and many new restaurants coming on board to support us. There aren’t many events in Peel where guests can sample so many restaurants and chef creations all under one roof. We successfully raised over $80,000 through sponsorships, ticket sales and proceeds from a live and silent auction”.
